Hire our 2026 Yanmar ViO17 mini excavator and trailer for your next project.
The digger is approximately 1,790 kg and comes with 300 mm, 450 mm and 900 mm buckets plus a tilt bucket. Trailer GVM is 3,500 kg with a 50 mm coupling and breakaway brake.
Available for half-day, full-day and weekly dry hire.
Hire requirements:
Hirers and all authorised operators must be 18 years or older, hold a current full New Zealand Class 1 licence or higher, and have sufficient general excavator experience to operate the machine safely. Driver licence verification is required before the equipment is released.
Pickup or delivery:
Customers can collect and tow the digger themselves where their vehicle and towing setup meet the required legal ratings, or Tapped Plumbing & Gas can arrange delivery for an additional charge.
A refundable bond applies. Full hire terms and conditions must be accepted before the booking is completed.

What licence and experience do I need?
The hirer and all authorised operators must be 18 or older, hold a current Full NZ Class 1 licence or higher, and have enough general excavator experience to operate the machine safely. Your licence must be presented before the equipment is released.
When do I need to pay?
Hire charges and the $150 refundable bond are due before or at pickup unless otherwise agreed. Customers can pay online.
How should the digger be returned?
The digger, trailer and attachments must be returned on time, reasonably clean and with a full tank of diesel. A cleaning charge may apply if additional cleaning is required.
How much does it cost to hire the digger?
Half Day – up to 4 hours: $172.50 incl. GST
Full Day: $287.50 incl. GST
Monday–Friday Week: $1,265.00 incl. GST

Where can I pick up the digger?
Customer pickup and return is available from our workshop at 47 Croad Place, Tokoroa. Collection and return times must be booked in advance.
Can Tapped deliver the digger to me?
Yes. Delivery can be requested when booking and is charged based on distance. We’ll confirm the delivery cost with you before the hire is finalised.
Can I tow the digger myself?
Yes, provided your licence, tow vehicle, towbar and towing capacity are suitable for the actual digger and trailer combination. Tapped may refuse release if the towing requirements are not met.

What is the cancellation and late-return policy?
Cancellations require at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations, no-shows and unapproved late returns may incur charges in accordance with our Digger & Trailer Hire Terms & Conditions.
